ARMENIA - THE LATEST COUNTRY FOR
Six years ago Youth For Christ asked us to focus our pray on Armenia and the needs of the nation. In God's time we awaited doors to open and connect us to Christians in and associated to Armenia.
In 2008 YFC EE were invited by the Evangelical Church of Armenia to come and visit them and other churches, who presented the need of Children in present day poverty. We are thankful for the warmth of those in Authority who have such a passion for their country, and in particular the lives of the children and youth.
In recent history Armenia suffered from genocide and many people who fled the country 100 years ago have their next generations remaining faithful to their motherland. In the late1980's the country suffered from massive earth quakes and tens of thousands of people died.
It is a country in great need and through many circumstances God has brought people together from 'here and there' enabling His work to continue. God has encouraged us by introducing some of those people to the work of YFC Children@Risk and in May 2009 we have the pleasure of appointing Arévig to begin the work as coordinator for YFC Armenia. We will work to support her through your faithful prayer and practical help. Franck Garabedian (Mission Partner Armenia) with Jean- Jacque Weller will ensure that we listen and assist when and where God directs us with the new Team Armenia. The Lord's work is in His hands, and with His blessing the official launch happened in the first week of February 2010.
A special thanks to our mentor Jean-Jaques Weller, who has been at our side, lending advice and discernment, continually building relationships and providing such care and love to everyone around him. Suffering some periods of illness and needing rest, we pray and know that his passion to see God's Kingdom come across the nations, never declines.
Please hold all of this work high in your prayers each day, there is so much need of it in Armenia and the folk who are involved on the ground.
